Upstream authority BPMIGAS has reprimanded management of Joint Operating Body (JOB) Petrochina Tanjung Jabung and sent home its General Manager Zang Jung Wen for drilling wells in Tanjung Jabung Barat without obtaining proper permit.

BPMIGAS made the decision after holding a meeting with Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency Head, Usman Ermulan, in Jakarta on Tuesday (Feb 21).

?We have reprimanded the JOB management. We also have sent its GM home because we can not tolerate such actions,? BPMIGAS Head R.Priyono told Petromindo.com

Priyono said JOB Petrochina Tanjung Jabung has yet to obtain necessary documents such as land permit, road access permit and environment assessment impact for drilling the wells. He said under proper procedure the JOB should have sought permit through BPMIGAS who would issue the required recommendations to the local government for the permit to be granted.

Tanjung Jabung Barat Regency Head Usman Ermulan said the local government has not issued the permit for JOB Petrochina Jabung to do the drilling as it has yet to receive recommendations from BPMIGAS. Therefore, the local government has passed on the request of JOB Petrochina Tanjung Jabung to BPMIGAS.

Petrochina is the operator of Jabung PSC, onshore Jambi.
