BPMIGAS set to approve Genting Oil?s PoD for Ande-Ande Lumut

Oil and gas upstream sector regulator BPMIGAS is poised to propose Malaysian firm Genting Oil?s Plan of Development (PoD) for the Ande-Ande Lumut field in North West Natuna PSC to be approved by the government.

?Our target is to complete the evaluation process (of the PoD) at BPMIGAS this month so that it can be submitted to the minister (of energy and mineral resources) for approval,? BPMIGAS? spokesperson Elan Biantoro said on Monday.

In March this year, a BPMIGAS official said it had returned the PoD back to the Malaysian firm for a revision, because it disagreed with the way the firm calculated the field?s reserves. The block is wholly owned by the Malaysian firm.

Under the revised PoD, the Malaysian firm states the field contains more than 60 million barrels of proven oil reserve, while the gas reserve is not much. It plans to produce between 10,000 and 20,000 barrels per day of oil.

?The gas is not much and will be used by the company itself for power generation. The oil is of heavy crude type. Ande-Ande Lumut will come onstream in 2012 with a peak production of 20,000 bpd seen to be achieved in 2015. (Bernard)
