BPMIGAS to get new top officials

Hadi Purnomo, who is currently Head of Ministry of Energy?s Oil, Gas R&D Center, will be inducted as new Vice Chairman of upstream oil, gas authority BPMIGAS, replacing outgoing Abdul Muin.

A Petromindo.Com source said that Hadi Purnomo will be formally installed on Thursday, August 20.

The source said several deputies might also be replaced or reshuffled tomorrow. The source did not give detail about deputies names. Currently, BPMIGAS has four deputies. (godang)

Born in Turen, East Java on December 6, 1954, Hadi Purnomo finished his undergraduate study at the Bandung Institute of Technology?s School of Petroleum Engineering in 1983. He then pursued his study at the University of London, Imperial College of Science, Technology, Medicine, Royal School of Mines, T.H.. Huxley School of Environment, Earth Sciences and Engineering. He got his master degree in 1993 and PhD on petroleum engineering in 1998 from the university.

Besides, he also attended various courses mostly on oil and gas development and technology in Indonesia and overseas.

In the period of 1984-1986, he got involved in handling various oil and gas projects in the country, including as a junior and senior engineer in the B28/B29 Reservoir Study for ARII and the Duri Steam Flood Study for PT CPI, the Reservoir Engineering Study of Kangean Block for ARBNI, and the Single Well Study of JAU#1 for INPEX.

In the period of 1986-2006, he coordinated or led various teams to assess, study, evaluate various oil and gas projects in the country.

He has taken up various managerial positions at the Lemigas, the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources? Research and Development Center, before assuming his current position in August 2006. He was the agency?s Drilling and Production Section Head in 1999-2001, Program Team Coordinator for Exploitation Technology Research in 2001-2006, Program Head in 2006-2006.

He is a productive writer. He, either individually or together with others, has written dozens of studies on oil and gas, CBM and biofuel, which were either presented in seminars or published in Lemigas?s journal. He has participated in various seminars and become a speaker on various topics.

He is still active in tutoring students at the University of Indonesia and ITB to get PhD and was involved as delegation member or leader in Indonesia?s delegation to negotiate cooperation with other countries in the energy sector.
