BPMIGAS to publicly announce all CSR programs
Tuesday, October 23 2012 - 12:37 PM WIB
Starting in 2013, upstream authority BPMIGAS will publicly announce all the corporate social responsibility (CSR) programs planned by each of production sharing contract (PSC) holders throughout the year.
?This is a concrete step to solve problems confronting the contractors anytime they start a project,? Ngatijan, BPMIGAS? Chief Representatives for Kalimantan-Sulawesi said on Tuesday.
Ngatijan said at present, many social protests occurred before a project starts, which is a new phenomenon in the industry. In the past, social protests usually occurred after a project started.
?That is the reason why (many) projects have been delayed. We have to first solve the social problems (before starting a project),? he said.
To help solve the problem, starting next year, BPMIGAS together with PSC holders will publicly announce all the CSR programs that will be carried out by each of the PSC holders throughout the year so that the local community understand the benefits that they will get from having oil and gas projects in their respective areas. They are thus expected to accept the projects.
?The announcement will be made after the budget plans of the PSC holders for the following year have been approved. The local community will thus be aware of the direct benefits they will get from the oil and gas projects in their respective areas aside from the revenue sharing to be received by the local administrations,? he said.
