BPMIGAS? workers in wait and see mode

A day after the Constitutional Court unleashed shockwaves to the upstream oil and gas industry, under which it dissolved the existence of BPMIGAS, workers continue to do their daily office activities although works are limited to non decision/policy-making process.
"We still go to work today. But we should not make decisions. We are waiting for further decisions or regulations from the government,? BPMIGAS Head of PR, Security and Formality Division Hadi Prasetyo told petromindo.com on Wednesday.
On Tuesday, the Constitutional Court ruled that the establishment of upstream authority BPMIGAS is in conflict with the nation?s 1945 Constitution and has to be dissolved. The Court reviewed the existence of BPMIGAS based on the judicial review submitted by the Central Office of Islamic organization Muhammadiyah and other religious organizations as well as activists such Komaruddin Hidayat, Marwan Batubara, Adhie Massardi, M Hatta Taliwang.
In response to the ruling, Coordinating Minister for the Economy Hatta Rajasa was quoted as saying in local media that a new a Presidential Regulation will soon be issued to allow the establishment of a new institution to replace BPMIGAS.
The new body will operate under the Energy and Mineral Resources Ministry.
