State oil, gas firm Pertamina and Brantas production sharing contractor is currently negotiating to supply some 20 million standard cubic feet per day (MMCFD) of natural gas to state power firm PLN?s combined cycle power plant Grati in East Java, according to Pertamina official.

?Currently we are negotiating the price and the delivery is expected to commence sometime next year,? Mulyani Wahyono, Pertamina?s gas development manager told Petromindo.com Wednesday.

According to Mulyani, the gas will be coming from Lapindo Brantas? Wunut gas field and will be piped using state gas firm PGN?s pipeline system.

He said the gas would be sufficient to feed one unit out of the six units the 1000-megawatt power generators the plant currently operated.

?In the long term, Grati would use gas to fuel all of its unit. It means they would need supply of about 100 million cubic feet per day,? said Mulyani.

Brantas PSC, which is located onshore East Java, is operated and 50 percent controlled by local oil, gas firm Lapindo Brantas, while Australian oil, gas firm Novus Petroleum controls 50 percent interest. (alex/godang)
