Coal producer company PT Bhumi Rantau Energi (BRE) said that the company was currently redesigning its hauling road in coal mine in Rantau, Tapin Region, South Kalimantan as part of efforts for cost efficiency.
Dadang Djupri, General Manager Business Operation of PT Bumi Rantau Energy told Petromindo.com that the re-design of the hauling road was aimed at reducing operational costs.
"We design hauling road for overburden removal. Initially the hauling road is quite far, then we short it cut to reduce the total hauling costs," he said.
"It is one of our efficiency efforts in reducing costs amid the bearish market condition."
Dadang revealed that with this kind of market condition, BRE would not run in full operation as previously targeted.
"By the second quarter I guess we are not producing based on the initial target," he said without mentioning the new production expected amount as it is still being recalculated.
Previously, Setiawan Herlianto S, Bhumi Rantau Director told Petromindo.com that the company was expecting to produce 4 million tons for this year as the company only produced 2.1 million tons in 2012 due to the bearish market.
