British investor to invest in power generation, coal mining in South Kalimantan

De Lamore Group from London, the United Kingdom, will soon invest a total of Rp 5.3 trillion (US$=Rp11,200) in South Kalimantan, including to build water-powered power generation in Kusan and coal mining operation in the province, Banjarmasin Post daily reported on Thursday.

The investor signed a memorandum of understanding with South Kalimantan administration officials in Jakarta on April 19 and on April 28.

Based on the memorandum, De Lamore Group would invest a total of Rp 600 billion to build the power generation in Kusan, that would supply electricity to parts of South and East Kalimantan provinces.

De Lamore would also spend Rp 600 billion for coal mining operation in a number of areas in South Kalimantan. In addition, the investor had also allocated Rp 135 billion to help transport people's coals, Rp 200 billion to build infrastructure to facilitate the transportation of people's coal and Rp 450 billion to build coal terminal and container.

Besides, De Lamore had also been committed to investing up to Rp 3 trillion in the province's regional development bank Bank Pembangunan Daerah, Rp 100 billion to build a 25-kilometer canal in Tapin regency, and Rp 100 billion to upgrade and expand the runaway of Syamsuddin Noor airport. (*)
