Gold mining firm PT Bumi Resources Minerals Tbk (IDX: BRMS) said neither the company nor its subsidiary PT Citra Palu Minerals (CPM) has received any notice from the Environment Ministry regarding reports that CPM was among mining firms facing permit suspension over waste management issues.

In a material information disclosure dated Feb 23, the company clarified a media report stating that more than 30 mining companies, including CPM, had their environmental approvals frozen for allegedly lacking wastewater disposal permits.

Separately, the Forest Area Enforcement Task Force previously sealed a portion of CPM’s concession in Palu, Central Sulawesi, after detecting unauthorized forest clearing attributed to illegal miners. CPM management has said the clearing was not conducted by the company.

BRMS said CPM continues to operate normally at its Poboya gold mine. The subsidiary is upgrading one of its gold processing plants from 500 tonnes of ore per day to 2,000 tonnes per day by the end of 2026 and is completing construction of an underground mine with gold grades estimated at 3.5 to 4.9 grams per tonne, targeted to start operations next year.

The company added that all CPM mining and processing activities are conducted under valid environmental permits issued by the Ministry of Environment and Forestry. These include an environmental feasibility decree for mining and gold processing activities in Poboya issued in December 2023, a hazardous waste management permit granted in February 2024, and operational approvals for domestic wastewater management and emission standards issued in December 2025.

BRMS said the clarification has no material impact on its operations, legal standing, financial condition or business continuity.
