Astaka will produce 100,000 tonnes in 2010, ramping up to 500,000-1MT in 2011 with ultimate production of 5-6 MTPA in 2014, BSG CEO Bonifasius told Petromindo.Com on Monday.
He said the mine, which is located in Musi Banyuasin regency has mineable reserves of 165 MT with CV of 5,300-5,600 Kcal/kg (ADB), total moisture of 35-40% and low ash and low sulfur.
Coal from the mine will be barged through Mangsang River to transshipping point in Bangka Straits. The river port could accommodate barge with capacity of 5,000-7,000 tonnes, he said.
