IDX-listed coal miner PT Baramulti Sukses Sarana Tbk (BSSR) plans to develop an underpass to allow access to the western part of its coal concession in East Kalimantan to help boost the concession?s annual production capacity to 1.5 million tons.

The western part of the concession contains coal with higher calorie and lower moisture, the company said in a presentation material last week, but did not provide further details about the underpass project.

The East Kalimantan concession covers an area 2,460 hectares, located about 25 Km from the city of Samarinda. The concession, which is divided into four blocks, started commercial production in June of 2011, and reached more than 100,000 tons at end of 2012. The company suspended production last year pending the completion of land acquisition and renegotiation of mining development plan with contractor.

BSSR through subsidiary PT Antang Gunung Meratus also operates a number of coal mines in South Kalimantan.
