IDX-listed engineering and metal construction company PT Bukaka Teknik Utama Tbk, which among others is engaged in manufacturing and construction of power transmission lines, said it has obtained contracts worth Rp 1.4 trillion this year for the supply of transmission towers mainly to state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.

?About 80 percent of our transmission tower output is absorbed by PLN, and the remainder by private power firms,? said Bukaka Director Septiastuti Hapsari to Petromindo.com on Wednesday.

The company?s tower manufacturing facility in Bekasi, West Java Province, has annual installed production capacity of 60,000 tons, 85 percent of which is transmission tower, and 15 percent telecommunications tower.

Bukaka is among of the domestic manufacturing firms benefiting from the government?s five-year program to develop a combined 35,000 MW power plants including the required transmission lines through 2019 particularly as government-sponsored electricity projects require the utilization of locally produced goods and services under the local content policy.

?We?re also the only company in Southeast Asia which have facility for tower testing with capacity of up to 500 kV. As such, power firms no longer have to overseas for the testing,? Septiastuti said.

As per July, Bukaka has bagged contracts worth Rp 3 trillion from its engineering and construction businesses, out of the target to get total contracts of Rp 7 trillion this year.
