Bukaka seeks permit for second hydro power plant project in Jambi

Bukaka Group through subsidiary PT Sumatera Hydro Power (SHP) is seeking permit from the local administration for a second hydro power plant project in Batang Merangin District, Kerinci Regency, Jambi Province.
Tribunews quoted Amir Syam, a senior official at the Kerinci regency administration, as saying that SHP had on January 30 sent a letter to the administration of the company?s plan to develop a second hydro power plant project in Batang Merangin.
He said that the administration is currently evaluating the request to make sure that the project does not trespass the Taman Nasional Kerinci Seblat (TNKS) conservation forest area. No further details about the planned project are provided.
Bukaka plans a second hydro power plant project, although the company has yet to complete the first 2x90 MW hydro power plant project in Batang Merangin. Local reports said that construction of the project has been suspended since 2015 as the company has yet to obtain government approval to expand the capacity to a total 360 MW. (*)
