Bukaka suffers financial losses due to cancellation in power project

PT Bukaka Teknik Utama has suffered some Rp 20 billion (US$1=Rp 8,500) in financial losses due to the cancellation of the Java-Bali 500 KV transmission project by the state electricity firm PLN.

Bukaka chairman Jusuf Kalla was quoted by Bisnis Indonesia as saying that the company had made a lot of preparations since it was appointed to develop the project in 1998.

Kalla said that he had asked Coordinating Minister for the Economy, Finance and Industry Kwik Kian Gie about the cancellation, but Kwik said that it's been the decision of President Abdurrahman Wahid. (*)
