State owned coalmine producer PT Bukit Asam said that it had no plan to relocate its head office in Muara Enim, South Sumatera to Tanjung Apiapi in the province's other regency of Musi Banyuasin (Muba), Sumatera Express reported on Friday.

Santoso Sugirang, a senior official of the coalmine operator, said that the company would maintain its office in Muara Enim where most of the coals mining sites are located.

"We don't have any plan to relocate the office to Tanjung Apiapi," he said in a meeting attended by the agency's top officials and business executives.

A participant of the meeting said he was concerned about the coal mining company's plan to relocate its head office from Muara Enim. Earlier reports said that Bukit Asam might moves its office to Tanjung Apiapi in line with the company's plan to open a coal terminal in the town.

The relocation of the company's head office, one of the main source of the local government's revenue, could pose a major blow to the Muara Enim regency. (*)
