State owned cola mining company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam (PTBA), which operates massive coal mines in South Sumatera has appointed the local office of the public prosecutors as its legal representative.
PT BA is Indonesia's third largest coal producer.
The agreement was signed by PT Bukit Asam president Sunardi and the chief of the local office of the public prosecutors Hatta Nasution in the company's office in Muaraenim on Monday.
Under the agreement, the local public prosecutor office will act as Bukit Asam's legal representatives and consultant in dealing with possible legal conflicts. The agreement will valid for two years.
Sunardi said that he hoped with the agreement, PT Bukit Asam's operation would no longer be disturbed by legal conflicts. "At present we cannot 100 percent focus on our coal mining operation because at the same time we also have to handle our legal affairs," he said.(*)
