Bukit Asam, PLN sign revised PPA for Banjarsari mine-mouth power plant

State-owned coal miner PT Bukit Asam Tbk (Persero) announced Thursday that it has signed a revised power purchase agreement (PPA) for its Banjarsari mine-mouth power plant in Lahat regency, South Sumatra with state electricity firm PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN).

PLN has agreed to pay 5.569 U.S cent per Kwh to the consortium called PT. Bukit Pembangkit Innovative (BPI), which Bukit Asam has a 59.75 percent stake with PT Navigat Innovative Indonesia and PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara's (PLN) subsidiary PT. Pembangkit Jawa-Bali owning 11.1 percent and 15.9 percent, respectively

Groundbreaking of the construction of the 2x100 MW Banjarsari mine-mouth power plant will be conducted by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono today Friday July 29, Bukit Asam said in a statement

The project is expected to be completed within 33 months with total investment amounting to around Rp 2.7 trillion (US$ = Rp 8,500), it said. The consortium has secured the fund from Bank BNI and has appointed Chinese firm China National Electric Engineering Co, Ltd (CNEEC) as contractor to build the power plant

Bukit Asam will supply 1.4 million tonnes per annum of coal for 30 years contract to the power plant. (denny)
