Bukit Asam raises coal exports to Vietnam

State owned coal mining company PT Bukit Asam Tbk plans to increase coal exports to Vietnam to about 1 million tons a year this year from about 500,000 tons at present, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Monday.
The coal export plan is part of the economic agreement stipulated in the memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed in Jakarta last week. The coal to be exported will consist of coal with cv of 5,000 kcal/kilogram.
Bukit Asam president director Milawarma said that the additional coal export to the ASEAN member country could be increased depending on the demand from the local buyers. At present, Bukit Asam exports coal with 6,000/kilogram.
The MoU on cooperation in energy and mineral resources was signed by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono and Vietnamese president Nguyen Cam Tu during the Vietnamese leader?s visit to Jakarta on Friday. (*)
