Bukit Asam?s revenue rises 14 percent

State-owned company PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam booked an unaudited revenue of Rp 492.6 billion in the first quarter of the year, up 14 percent from the corresponding period of last year, Suara Karya daily reported on Wednesday.

Company president Ismet Harmaini was quoted by the paper as saying on Tuesday that the company?s exports jumped by more than fivefold to Rp 131.2 billion in the first three months of the year, from Rp 30.3 billion in the year-ago period, while domestic sales dropped 11 percent to Rp 361.4 billion from Rp 405.2 billion.

However, net profit marginally rose to Rp 51.22 billion from Rp 51.02 billion as the firm had to pay significantly higher costs due the increase in transportation fee, the price of spare parts and royalties.

In terms of volume, sales increased 11 percent to 2.059 million tons from 1.849 million tons. (*)
