The state-owned South Sumatra-based coal mining firm PT Tambang Batubara Bukit Asam will settle this year some Rp 19.94 billion (US$1=Rp 10,400) in coal retribution fee owed to the provincial administration.

The local Sriwijaya Post daily quoted provincial legislator MIA Mangkudepati as saying over the weekend that the repayment plan was disclosed by Bukit Asam management during a recent working meeting with the provincial legislative institution and the provincial administration.

Bukit Asam produced around 8.9 million tons of coal last year.(*)
