Bukit Baiduri hires new mining contractor

East Kalimantan coal miner PT Bukit Baiduri Energy (BBE) has hired new contractor PT Surya Teknik Anugrah (STA) to meet its previous production target of 2 million tons this year, an industrial source told Petromindo.com.

There are currently three mining contractors working in Bukit Baiduri.

The source said that the country?s second largest mining contractor, PT Buma which was previously the main contractor for Bukit Baiduri has discontinued working for the company this year.

As of September, the company has produced 1 million tons of coal.

Bukit Baiduri with its concession in Kutai Kartanegara last year produced 2.4 million tons of coal with 6,000 kcal/kg (ADB) CV.
