Bukit Cahaya to start construction of micro hydro projects next year

Independent power producer PT Bukit Cahaya Powerindo plans to start early next year construction of two micro hydro power plant projects in North Sumatra Province.
Bukit Cahaya President Director John Haposan Silalahi told Petromindo.com on Friday that land acquisition for the two power plant projects have been completed.
He said that a 7.5 MW micro hydro power plant project in Aek Situmandi requires 10 ha of land, while another project, located 6-km away, with capacity of 3.2 MW in Aek Sigeaon requires land of 7 ha.
The company signed on Friday power purchase agreements (PPAs) with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN.
He said that financial close for the projects, with estimated cost of Rp 22 billion per MW, is expected to be reached within six months after the PPA signing, to be followed with construction process.
The company has appointed PT Hutama Karya as the EPC contractor. John added that the projects will be developed in partnership with a European investor, but stopped short of disclosing its identity.
