Buma to maintain 2009 coal production

Mining contractor PT Bukit Makmur Mandiri Utama (BUMA) plans to maintain its coal production at 36 million tons this year, the company?s senior officer said last week.

Deny Hartono, deputy manager of business development operation division, told Petromindo.Com that BUMA had signed a new contract extension with PT Arutmin Indonesia, a coal unit of IDX-listed mining house PT Bumi Resources.

The five-year new contract which started in September 2008 involved a coal production by BUMA of 1.2 million ton per year from Arutmin's Senakin mine with overburden around 11-12 million BCM, he said.

BUMA is one of the leading coal mining contractors in Indonesia with major customers including PT Berau Coal, PT Gunung Bayan Pratamacoal, PT Kideco Jaya Agung, PT Perkasa Inakakerta (PIK). (denny)
