Publicly listed PT Bumi Resources Tbk said Tuesday its total combined coal reserves had increased by 8.2 percent to 1.146 billion tons following an additional reserve from PT Arutmin Indonesia’s mines.

Bumi’s finance director Eddie J. Soebari told reporters that the new exploration carried out in the open cut area of Arutmin’s mines had successfully increased the mines reserves of 90 million tons.

Eddie said as of March 2005, total coal reserves at Arutmin reached 530 million tons. Meanwhile, subsidiary PT Kaltim Prima Coal’s reserves stood at 616 million tons of coal.

Bumi plans to produce 36 million tons this year from both Arutmin and KPC. (dino)
