IDX-listed giant coal mining firm PT Bumi Resources Tbk is currently developing a power transmission line of 70 kV in Sangatta, Kutai Timur Regency, East Kalimantan Province, with the total length of 5 kilometers.

The company's Director and Corporate Secretary Dileep Srivastava told Petromindo.com on Thursday that the project is being developed by Bumi's subsidiary, East Kalimantan coal mining firm PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) with the total investment of US$ 7 million.

"The project is expected to be completed in the third quarter of this year," Dileep said adding that the transmission is developed to support the 3x18 MW, coal-fired power plant developed by KPC, which is expected to be on stream all this year.

KPC signed on Tuesday a MoU with state-owned electricity firm PT PLN, under which the former will sell excess power from the power plant project to the latter to be then supplied to households in Sangatta and surrounding areas.
