Bumi eyeing Indian coal supply deal

Indonesian coal mining house PT.Bumi Resources said on Wednesday it was ready to submit bid to supply coal to Indian Ultra Mega Power Project.

CEO Ari S. Hudaya told Petromindo.Com that the tender, which will be opened later this month, called for long term supply of 5-10 million tonnes of coal per annum.

Under the Ultra Mega Power Project, Indian government is currently planning to tender five coal-fired power plants in five states under IPP scheme with capacity of 4,000-MW each in to help easing the country?s acute electricity shortage.

These Ultra Mega Power Projects will add 20,000 MW within a span of 7-8 years.

Bumi is controlling two major mines with combined production of around 50MTPA; namely East Kalimantan miner PT.Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and South Kalimantan?s PT.Arutmin Indonesia. (godang)
