Bumi reiterates interest to acquire Herald

IDX-listed mining giant PT Bumi Resources Tbk said on Wednesday that it is currently watching recent developments and awaiting full details on higher take over bid to acquire Australian firm Herald Resources.

?It is far too early for us to form a view on our possible future position but we reiterate our interest in Herald Resources and we are happy with our almost 20% significant shareholding in this company at a price which is below even our fair bid by us last month,? Dileep Srivastava, Bumi?s Senior Vice President ? Corporate Secretary said in a statement.

IDX-listed state miner PT.Aneka Tambang Tbk (Antam)and Chinese mining firm Shenzen Zhongjin Lingnan Nonfemet Co. Ltd. on Wednesday announced a joint cash offer for A$2.50 per share for the entire issued capital of ASX-listed Herald Resources, topping the previous $2.25 per share offer made by Bumi Resources unit Calipso Investment Pte Ltd.

Antam also said it had purchased on Wednesday 10.7 percent of Herald Resources? shares. (alex)
