Publicly listed company PT Bumi Resources Tbk shipped about 4 million tons of coal to export markets in August this year through its two mining subsidiaries PT Kaltim Prima Coal (KPC) and PT Arutmin, Media Indonesia reported on Thursday.

The company’s corporate secretary Geroad Jusuf said that KPC shipped a total of 2.9 million tons to its foreign buyers in August while Arutmin shipped about 1.1 million tons in the same month. “The monthly coal shipment was the largest ever recorded by Indonesian mining companies,” he said.

Jusuf said that KPC’s coal delivery through land transportation facilities reached about 2.75 million tons in August, also the highest among coal mining companies.

He said that KPC would soon operate offshore loading facilities called floating transfer station in Bengalon and Tanjung Bara ports near its coal concession areas in East Kalimantan to speed up the shipment activities. (*)
