Bumi's H1 earnings soar on higher sales

Indonesia's top coalmining house PT.Bumi Resources Tbk. on Thursday reported first-half net profit of Rp.1 trillion (US$=Rp.9,800) or Rp. 51.55 per share, almost three times higher compared to previous year's corresponding period earnings of Rp.358 billion or Rp.18.46 per share.

The company said in financial statement posted in local media that sales rose to 6.72 trillion rupiah from 4.16 trillion rupiah last year.

Bumi owns two major coal mining subsidiaries, South Kalimantan-based PT.Arutmin Indonesia and East Kalimantan based PT.Kaltim Prima Coal with combined planned output of more than 50 million tonnes this year. (alex)
