Bumi Siak Pusako plans to drill two exploration wells next year

?The JOB has been seeking to increase production by doing a 3-D seismic survey at Talang and Kasikan areas in 2008, drilling one exploration well in 2009, and planning to drill two exploration wells in West Area and Pedada areas next year, ? External Affair Manager Zulfikar Azis said on Thursday.
He said the partnership has been able to slow down the production decline of the block to 10 percent at present, as compared to 16 percent in the period of 1998-2002 when the block was operated by PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (which is now owned by ChevronTexaco) .
The block now produces 21 barrels per day (bpd) of oil, as against more than 70,000 bpd when it was operated by Caltex.
The government handed over the block to the partnership of state owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina with regional government-owned Bumi Siak Pusako after Caltex?s contract expired.
Oil and gas upstream authority BPMIGAS has set a target for the partnership to produce 18,500 bpd per next year. In 2009, the target is 22,000 bpd. In reality, it could only produce 20,650 bpd. (Godang)
