State-owned electricity firm PLN said that it has managed to save Rp 30 million per day in fuel expenses, or almost Rp 11 billion per year, following the operation of the 2 MW mini gas-fired power plant on Bunyu Island, in East Kalimantan, Bisnis Indonesia reported Monday.

Vickner Sinaga, operational director of PLN?s eastern Indonesia said that the power plant has received gas from Pertamina EP since October 13.

?With the operation of the Bunyu mini gas-fired power plant, the island will receive 100 percent of electricity supply from the facility. PLN will no longer use diesel to serve the communities on the Bunyu Island, allowing PLN to save about Rp 30 million in cost,? he said. (*)
