Apexindo Pratama Duta, a drilling subsidiary of JSX listed oil and gas firm Medco Energi International Tbk confirmed on Monday that the drilling barge that caught fire in TotalFinaElf E&P Indonesie?s well in Tunu East Kalimantan belonged to the company.

?Up to now, we haven?t been able to assess the extend of the damage of our Maera rig. We hope to be able to get clearer picture tomorrow,? said Marc Boneta, Apexindo?s rig manager via phone from Balikpapan.

The rig caught fire on Friday after an uncontrolled eruption gas and condensate occurred during the drilling operation being performed by the rig Maera at the Tunu E5 well location on the Tunu field in the Mahakam Delta. (robert/alex)
