Indonesian Port III’s (Pelindo) Tanjung Intan branch in Cilacap, Central Java is building a coal receiving terminal in the seaport complex to provide services for barges that unload coal for coal-fired power plants in the area, Media Indonesia reported Monday.
The construction of the coal terminal is expected to be completed in June of this year and it will be ready for use in July.
Pelindo III Tanjung Intan’s general manager Didiek Haryanto said in Cilacap Sunday that it is necessary to build a coal terminal because the coal has a good prospect. “The amount of coal transported to Cilacap for coal-fired power plant reaches 180,000 tons each month. Based on the fact, Pelindo III Tanjung Intan has taken the initiative to build a coal terminal,” he said. (*)
