Indonesia`s Central Kalimantan province needs to generate Rp 8.7 trillion in investments to be able to meet its 2.9 percent target economic growth in 2003, Governor Asmawi Agani said Wednesday.

Agani told newsmen here that 70 percent or Rp 6.09 trillion of the amount is expected to come from domestic and foreign investors.

To achieve the target, he said the provincial administration is willing to provide the necessary support facilities to boost investments, including the quick processing of investment and operational permits.

"Business relations between domestic and foreign investors also needs to be improved, particularly in developing the province`s potentials which have not been managed well -- such as those in agribusiness, mining and tourism," he pointed out.

Agani however noted that certain obstacles, especially in providing support facilities, could be overcome if businessmen are willing to work hand in hand with the provincial administration. (*)
