The Central Sulawesi provincial administration confirmed a report in this portal on Tuesday that six nickel mining firms have filed a lawsuit against Governor Longki Djanggola over the latter?s decision to reduce the size of the concessions of the mining firms in a bid to resolve mining areas overlapping problem.
Bambang Sunaryo, Head of the provincial administration?s Mining Office, told Petromindo.com that the lawsuit was filed with the State Administrative Court (PTUN).
The six miners include PT Daya Inti Mineral, PT Artha Bumi Mining, and PT Daya Sumber Mining, which according to Bambang belong to one group. The three others are PT Persadatama Inti Jaya Mandiri (PIJM) and PT Morindo Bangun Sejahtera (MBS), which also belong to one group, and PT Bintang Delapan Wahana, which is part of the Bintang Delapan Group.
According to information gathered by Petromindo.com, the IUP mining concession of PT Bintang Delapan Wahana overlaps with the concessions of the five other mining firms. To help resolve the overlapping problem, the governor then reduced the size of the concessions. PT Persadatama Inti Jaya Mandiri saw its concession cut down from 1,333 Ha to 1,070 Ha. Meanwhile, the concession of PT Morindo Bangun Sejahtera was reduced from 1,379 Ha to 897.4 Ha.
PT Daya Inti Mineral and PT Artha Bumi Mining, whose offices are in Jakarta, declined to provide comments.
Meanwhile, Hadi Purwanto, Head of the Legal Bureau and Public Relations of PT Bintang Delapan Wahana, said his company is still waiting for the legal process to be completed.
