Again a suspect of a cable thief was found dead and hung at an electricity pole at the operating area of PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia in Mandau, Bengkali on Wednesday, Riau Post reported on Thursday.

The company?s security men said that the man, a resident of Pudu village in the Mandau district was electrocuted when he was trying to cut off the electricity cable.

The incident is not the first time. Several other alleged cable thieves were also found dead and hung on in the electricity poles of the oil company in the past.

Stealing and looting are on the increase in industrial areas in Riau. The thieves, besides stealing industrial equipment, also cut off electricity wires despite the local police?s tight control over the industrial activities. (*)
