This was said by Dwi Hartoto, geothermal tender officer at the Directorate General of mineral, coal and geothermal on Wednesday.
Cahaya reportedly offered the lowest price of 8.2 US cents per kwh for the Blawan-Ijen project, while Bakrie offered 7.55 cents per kwh for the Ngebel-Wilis project.
Early this year, state owned elecricity firm PT Perusahaan Listri Negara (PLN) claimed to be the owner of the working areas, forcing the East Java administration to put on hold its plan to tender them. However, the government later issued a decree, stating that the working areas no longer belonged to PLN. Based on the decree, the provincial administration hold a tender for the two working areas last month. (Bernard)
