Cahaya Modern to increase NPI production to 1,000t per month

PT Cahaya Modern Metal Industri plans to increase production rate at its nickel pig iron (NPI) smelter in North Konawe Regency, Southeast Sulawesi Province, to around 1,000 tons per month amid rising price trend.
?We?re now trying to increase it (to 1,000 tons per month),? company Advisor Edward Arthur Joseph Renyut told Petromindo.com on Wednesday.
He said that the smelter last year was producing at rate of below 1,000 tons per month due to weak price environment. The smelter has installed production capacity of 1,800 tons per month.
The company obtains the nickel ores from affiliated company PT Modern Cahaya Makmur, which operates nickel mines in North Konawe and Konawe regencies. Last year, the smelter absorbed 3 million tons of nickel ores.
