PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) has received an approval from the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources to delay the payment of the levy imposed by the provincial administration of Riau on the company?s liquid waste, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Saturday.
?The government through the ministry will take the responsibility to pay the levy,? Caltex's public relations manager Renville Almatsier said.
The provincial government requires all companies in the province to pay levy for their liquid waste. But only 11 of them abide by the liquid waste levy regulation. Caltex and hundreds of other companies ignore the regulation.
Renville said that according to the ministry, the payment should be made only by companies which dump their liquid waste into the local government-owned liquid disposal site. (*)
