The government will soon summon and question the management of PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia and PT Maspion over environmental damages the two companies allegedly made in their respective plants, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Tuesday.

State Minister for Environmental Affairs Sonny Keraf said in Jakarta on Monday that the oil giant Caltex was found of dumping the dangerous B3 toxic industrial waste near its industrial complex without using a proper waste treatment facility.

The oil giant was found of dumping toxic waste during a visit of the second deputy of the state minister of environment affairs to the oil giant's industrial complex early last week, the minister said.

Sonny said PT Maspion was also found of dumping the B3 toxic industrial waste near its plant. "The finding on Maspion's environmental offense is nothing new because the company has carried out such activities for a long time," he told newsmen.

The minister said that his office would summon the management of the two companies soon after the minister returned from his inspection visit in Riau. "We hope the management of the two companies will be transparent and fair about the treatment of their toxic waste in their respective companies," he added. (*)
