Activites in Caltex Pacific Indonesia's (CPI) office in Duri, Riau province, returned to normal today as protesting contractor's workers stop blockading acces to the office compound and dispersed themselves, a CPI official said Friday.

"They have stopped striking yesterday. Today all activities in Duri and Rumbai main offices have returned to normal. Employees are getting back to work," said Poedyo Utomo, CPI spokesperson.

Poedyo said CPI will facilitate dialog between PT. Tripatra Engineering and its workers to reach satisfactory solution for both parties.

Tripatra is CPI's main contractor.

Thousands of Tripatra workers went on strike since Tuesday, blockading access to Rumbai and Duri offices, forcing hundreds of CPI employees to stay home.

On Thursday, activites in Rumbai main office had returned to normal after workers dispersed themselves on Wednesday.

CPI said production is unaffected by the strike.

CPI, a subsidiary of US oil giant Chevron-Texaco, produces some 560,000 barrels of oil per day from its Riau operations, accounting for more than half of Indonesia's crude production. (godang)
