Caltex? pipeline intentionally leaked

Indonesia largest crude producer PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia said on Wednesday its 26 inches Minas-Duri trunk pipeline had been sabotaged on Tuesday night, causing around 100 barrels oil spill.

?It was clearly a sabotage because the pipeline bolts were missing,? said a Caltex spokesperson..

He said the police is now investigating the case.

The spokesperson said the company had managed to contain the spill and had caused no significant environmental damage.

Meanwhile, a Pertamina that security disturbances at Caltex are still at an alarming level especially thefts production facilities. Two weeks ago a security officer was found killed, said the official.

The official worried if the situation persisted, it would cause fears among workers and could cause production disturbance.

Caltex, which is owned by US giant Chevron-Texaco, currently produces about half of the country?s crude. (alex/godang)
