President of oil company PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia Humayunbosha promised that the company would not try to take advantage of the top position of former company president Baihaki Hakim in state oil and gas company Pertamina, Berita Buana reported.
Humayunbosha said the appointment of Baihaki as Pertamina's new president replacing Martiono Hadianto had put Caltex in an awkward situation but he promised that Caltex will continue deal with Pertamina the professional way.
"We don't expect Baihaki to give greater attention to Caltex, because such an action is not good for Pertamina and Caltex," he said on Tuesday after the ceremony to mark the transfer of jobs from Pertamina's old board of directors to the new board.
Meanwhile, the Riau provincial administration called on Baihaki to treat the oil-rich province fairly as far as oil revenue distribution is concerned.
The provincial administration's spokesman said thus far Pertamina did not have a good image in the province due to the small amount of oil revenue accepted by the province. Baihaki should reverse the image, the spokesman was quoted by Riau Post as saying.
The paper also quoted several analysts in the province as regretting the fact that none of the Riau natives was included in Pertamina's new board of directors. (*)
