Only four companies has met the Riau provincial government?s regulation to pay a fee of US$100 per annum for every expatriate they hire since the launch of the ruling in 2002, Riau Post reported on Tuesday.
The province?s manpower office said that the four companies included PT Asia Forest Tamaraya, PT Hewan Supwer Wood, PT Anugerah Sumber Makmur and CV Industrial Service Indonesia.
Several companies which hire a large number of expatriate workers such as PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia still refuses to pay the expatriate fees to the local government on the ground that the company has already paid them through the ministry of manpower in Jakarta.
As many as 78 foreigners work in Pekanbaru at present, 43 of whom are hired by Caltex. But only those for four of the expatriates had been paid. (*)
