The plan of PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia to move dozens of families occupying its property on the Teluk Mesjid village, Sungaipit, Riau has received a strong opposition from the occupants, Riau Pos reported on Friday.

"It is unfair, I have just lived here for one month, and Caltex comes to move us," one of residents said. He said that the oil giant's plan to move the occupants of its property on the location was unfair because many other people living on the company's property were not touched at all.

Caltex spokesman Dwi Pudjo Strisno denied the charge that the residents would be relocated from the location to prevent their lives from the high voltage power network installed in the area. "They have to move because the location is very dangerous for them," he said.

Dwi said that all residents living on the company's properties would be also moved but he admitted that the relocation would be carried out in steps. "So it is wrong if the relocation will only affect those living on the Teluk Mesjid village," he said. (*)
