The legislative council of Riau province has summoned PT Caltex Pacific Indonesia (CPI) to cross check local residents' complaint that sewage water allegedly coming from the oil giant's official housing complex in Rumbai had flooded their houses,
The secretary of the commission IV of the council, Asmaidi, said that representatives of the villagers were also invited to join the hearing, which was scheduled to be held on Saturday.
Asmaidi said that the hearing was arranged because Caltex did not show any good faith to settle the sewage water problem amicably with the residents, Riau Pos reported.
Residents of Umbansari village in Rumbai have complained that the sewage water from the oil giant's official residential area nearby flooded their village almost every day. They said that they had complained for many times but Caltex paid no attention. (*)
