A Canadian investor is seeking a permit from the provincial administration of West Sumatra to explore gold and other mineral resources in the province's four regencies, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Saturday.
The head of the province's mining office, Bambang Istijono, said in Padang on Friday that the Canadian investor which would tie up with the Bandung-based PT Prisai Prima Utama in conducting its mining activities had been granted a license to conduct a survey on a 250,000 hectare of area located in Solok and Darmasraya Regencies.
He said that mining permit would be issued after the four regencies agreed on the appropriation of the mining land for the Canadian investor. (*)
