Capacity of PLTP Lahendong to be expanded to 170 MW

PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), a subsidiary of state-owned oil and gas firm PT Pertamina (Persero), will expand the capacity of the PLTP Lahendong geothermal power plant in North Sulawesi to 170 MW in 2021.

This was said by Director of Geothermal at the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources Yunus Saefulhak in a statement obtained Friday following a recent visit to the project. He did not provide further details about the planned expansion.

The PLTP Lahendong unit I-VI currently have a combined capacity of 120 MW. Unit V and VI with combined capacity of 2x20 MW started production late last year.

PGE said in January of this year it planned to drill one geothermal exploration well in October of this year to support the planned Lahendong unit VII geothermal power plant.
