The agency said in its website that the number of cases related to security disturbances in oil and gas upstream operations dropped by 35 percent to 471 in 2009 from 715 in 2008.
The head of the security monitoring at the national police office, Gen. Iman Haryatna said that although there was a significant drop in the number of cases related to security disturbance in oil and gas operations, the security enforcement in such business activities had not been optimal due to the lack of security equipment and personnel.
?The security should be improved in the future so that contractors in oil and gas operations would be well protected,? he said during a seminar on ?Security Outlook 2010? held by BPMIGAS on Thursday. (godang)
