Cegelec, through its Indonesian subsidiary PT Indokomas Buana Perkasa, has obtained a contract from BP Indonesia to provide maintenance works for the latter oil company’s 17 offshore rigs off the northern coast of Java, Bisnis Indonesia reported on Wednesday.

Celegec’s chairperson Claude Darmono said that the three-year contract worth 7.5 million euros were signed early this year. In addition, Cereleg had also recently secured a similar contract to take care of Total Fina’s oil wells in East Kalimantan.

Claude said that the Belgian company which operates in at least 30 countries in the world would open a number of branches in Indonesia to accommodate the company’s growing business in the country.

“We will for example open two branches in Riau and Bontang,” she said. At present, the company has a branch in Balikpapan. (*)
